چکیده
4D printing focus on the integration of a targeted morphing function by controlling properties and architecture materials. The present work evaluates potential tailoring to Hygromorph BioComposite (HBC), which paves way for construction new generation sustainable shape-changing metamaterials with sequential response. HBCs are made continuous flax fibres that have been proven be relevant actuation thus due their hygromorphism function. performance can boosted selecting an appropriate matrix. soft Poly Buthylene Succinate (PBS) matrix showed 92% increase in responsiveness 500% reactivity compared Lactic Acid (PLA)/Flax HBC. Layer Height (LH) control within layers allows complex local thickness stiffness ratio. Interfilament Distance 0° oriented passive layer (IDp) offers opportunity achieve non-uniform autonomous smart surfaces. Finally, programming spatial distribution yarn combined heterogeneities. As illustration, simple compliant mechanism via localized microstructure changes is proposed.

New biocomposites based on bioplastic flax fibers and biodegradable polymers.
A new generation of entirely biodegradable and bioactive composites with polylactic acid (PLA) or poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL) as the matrix and bioplastic flax fibers as reinforcement were analyzed. Bioplastic fibers contain polyhydroxybutyrate and were obtained from transgenic flax. Biochemical analysis of fibers revealed presence of several antioxidative compounds of hydrophilic (phenolics) and...
متن کاملSustainable Biocomposites for Construction
Typical construction materials and practices have a large ecological footprint. Many materials are energyintensive to produce, and construction and demolition debris constitutes a large percentage of U.S. landfill volume. Biocomposites are structural materials made from renewable resources that biodegrade in an anaerobic environment after their useful service life to produce a fuel or feedstock...

متن کاملMultimaterial 4D Printing with Tailorable Shape Memory Polymers
We present a new 4D printing approach that can create high resolution (up to a few microns), multimaterial shape memory polymer (SMP) architectures. The approach is based on high resolution projection microstereolithography (PμSL) and uses a family of photo-curable methacrylate based copolymer networks. We designed the constituents and compositions to exhibit desired thermomechanical behavior (...
متن کامل3d Printing of Anisotropic Metamaterials
Material properties in radio frequency and microwave regimes are limited due to the lack of molecular resonances at these frequencies. Metamaterials are an attractive means to realize a prescribed permittivity or permeability function, but these are often prohibitively lossy due to the use of inefficient metallic resonators. All-dielectric metamaterials offer excellent potential to overcome the...
